In June, 2001 she was cleared of charges of being a terrorist, but convicted of collaboration, and sentenced to 20 years by a civilian terrorism court which, according to the U.S. State Department, "fails to meet international standards of openness, fairness, and due process." Dona DONA SPRING is a member of the Berkeley, CA City Council and a leader in peace and justice issues. She initiated Berkeley's historic resolution calling on the U.S. to end the bombing of Afghanistan as quickly as possible, and has been instrumental in forging ties between the U.S. and Japanese peace movements.

ESTACION LIBRE -- Estacion Libre (EL) is a people-of-color organization based in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, building bridges between the Zapatista movement and struggles in the U.S. and Canada. EL organizes seasonal delegations in Chiapas as a political project to expose people of color to principles and strategies of the Zapatistas. FOR Logo  FELLOWSHIP OF RECONCILIATION -- Since 1915, The Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) has carried on programs and educational projects concerned with domestic and international peace and justice, nonviolent alternatives to conflict, and the rights of conscience. A nonviolent, interfaith, tax-exempt organization, The FOR promotes nonviolence and has members from many religious and ethnic traditions. It is a part of the International Fellowship of Reconciliation (IFOR), which has affiliates in over 40 countries.
 
Harry HARRY HOLLAND is a the father of two and a lifelong environmentalist. He is from the East, but has lived in Colorado for over half his life now. He says: "We have to listen to people like Edward Abbey and Wendell Berry. Wendell for President!"

HELENE KENDLER is a lifelong progressive who spent eleven years working at an AIDS service organization in New York City, and is currently a graduate student at the Hunter College School of Social Work.
 
HILDA BOLDEN is a sociologist from Latin America. She says she is "nuts about Cuba" and respects Progressive Portal's "commitment, activism, and work."
 
LAUREN COODLEY is a historian and labor activist who has been working with her family for the past several years to save the Pacifica Radio Network, and most recently, to rally support for the locked-out workers at Charles Krug Winery. Her research specialization is the life and work of Upton Sinclair.
 
LOUISA ARNDT writes: "At this point in life, having retired, I consider myself an activist -- and a liberal, which is not a dirty word. I live in a surburban area and keep backyard chickens -- good for my grandkids to know, and these peaceful birds keep me sane in an increasingly insane world."

NLG logo NATIONAL LAWYERS GUILD -- HASTINGS COLLEGE OF LAW CHAPTER (San Francisco) is composed of students learning to use the power of law to work for peace and social justice. Sensing that people are becoming more willing to question government initiatives in the post-911 period, the group provides information and tools to make intelligent decisions about the new laws that have been adopted in the "war on terrorism."
 
NORA FREEMAN is a speech/language therapist in the New York City metropolitan area. She has a teenage son and two stepchildren, and finds social justice activism to be deeply rewarding and empowering, even if it never changes a thing.
 
Campaign logo PACIFICA CAMPAIGN was founded by "Democracy Now!" co-host Juan Gonzalez to help reclaim the Pacifica Foundation from a group that had seized control and nearly destroyed the nation's only progressive radio network. Pacifica Campaign and Progressive Portal worked in close coordination on a campaign that succeeded in returning control of Pacifica to the defenders of its mission.
 
ROBERT LYLE is a student of History who has learned that if we as citizens do not become involved in our "current history," we will be forced to endure the mistakes of those who are.
