August 9: Bay Area Peace Lantern Ceremony
Aquatic Park, Berkeley

We hope to see you at the thirteenth annual Bay Area Japanese Lantern Ceremony for World Peace on Saturday, August 9, 2014, 6:30–9 p.m., at the north end of Aquatic Park in Berkeley.

Join hundreds of local residents in decorating lantern shades with remembrances of those who were at Hiroshima and Nagasaki (Aug. 6 and 9, 1945) and all victims of war, and expressions of hope for a peaceful future. After a brief ceremony with live music, the candle-lit lanterns will be floated on the Aquatic Park lagoon at dusk.

Our organization is pleased to [sponsor/endorse*] this beautiful and moving annual event, which is free, and suitable for all ages. The event is cosponsored by the Berkeley City Council and numerous local organizations.
